Fixing WiFi issue with Macbook while connecting to external Monitor with HDMI port

While I was setting up my new workstation I face this weird WiFi issue recently. This issue should happen if you use MacBook and try to extend the display with an external monitor using HDMI port.

Most external monitors have a HDMI port and in order to connect to a macbook you need an adapter or dock which converts HDMI to USB-C port. Most of those adapters are located so close to the laptop. it causes interferences with WiFi frequencies and ultimately you have a very slow internet speed.

you could try to use an adapter with a slightly long cable which creates enough space between MacBook and the adapter. but most likely it will not resolve the issue.

I found a valuable thread on the internet.

The main suggestion was to wrap the adapter with a foil

Here are how people resolve their issues.

Your entire $1000+ workstation will be useless if you did not invest $1 for a piece of foil.

Wrapping adapters with a foil is pretty much ugly and it will ruin your entire dream workstation setup.

I did not try the above workaround but looking at the number of people who recommend it, it should work.

Some people claim that they put a metal item between the adapter and MacBook to resolve this issue.

All the above facts suggest that Macbook internal WiFi is interfered with when we have an adapter.

How I resolve this issue

While checking so many blog posts, one comment mentioned in a youtube video inspired me of this solution.

What I did was connected to a 5G network instead of a 2.4G usual network. Yea, It is that simple it resolved the issue.

Wait, you can also try changing the frequency band of your network using router settings. ( I did not try it, but I saw a few suggestions)

Thanks for reading! (A few 👏 are always appreciated. 😀)
